Autocorrect and Word 2010
My PC has been rebuilt but I have lost my Autocorrect in Word 2010.
I have a backup of the PC prior to rebuild.
How can I restore my old autocorrect? Surely there must be a simple way to do this?

Because the old Office installation has been wiped out and what you have is a file backup, my reply in the other thread isn't going to help -- you don't have a way to create the document that method calls for.
Instead, you need to know where the AutoCorrect entries are stored so you can restore those files.
Unformatted entries are stored in files with the name pattern MSO*.ACL (where the * represents a number, different for each language).
Formatted entries are stored
in the Normal.dotm template.
The restoration consists of copying the backed-up files to the folders that Word uses, overwriting the ones that are there now.
The article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926927 gives the procedure for Word 2007, but it's exactly the same for Word 2010.
After you get the entries back, you can use the procedure in my other post to make a backup document whenever it's necessary, so that any later restoration would go much faster.
- Go to the Start button.
- In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
- At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
- Restart your computer.
